Fly into Athens, take a car to the port of Lavrio, then ride the ferry to Kea. The drive from Athens airport to Lavrio takes about 40 minutes. The ferry crossing takes about an hour. That is the whole trip.
Step one: Athens airport to Lavrio port
Kea is served from Lavrio, not Piraeus or Rafina. Lavrio sits on the southeast tip of Attica, roughly 35 kilometers from the airport. In normal traffic the drive takes 35 to 40 minutes. Give it an hour to be safe.
I coordinate a car service I trust for every guest on the Greece retreat. Once I have your flight details, I arrange your pickup. Guests landing around the same time can share a car, which makes the ride easier and more fun. You meet each other before you even reach the island.
Step two: the ferry from Lavrio to Kea
Ferries from Lavrio arrive at Korissia, the main port of Kea. The crossing takes about one hour. In summer there are several sailings a day, from early morning to late evening.
Goutos Lines and Triton Ferries run this route most days. Karystia and Hellenic Seaways add sailings on some days. Schedules for summer 2027 will be posted closer to the date, usually a few months ahead. Once they are live, I will send you the sailing that lines up with our arrival day.
How to book your ferry ticket
The ferry ticket is not included in the retreat. You book it yourself. The easiest way is online through Ferryhopper or directly with the ferry company. Your ticket lives on your phone and you can check in online, so there is nothing to print. Plan to be at the port about an hour before departure.
What happens when you land on Kea
We pick you up at Korissia port. From there it is a short drive to Kea Retreat on Psathi Bay. All transfers on the island are covered, from the port to the retreat and back again.
A few things worth knowing
Fly into Athens the day before if you can. It takes the pressure off the connection. Check the return ferry times before you book your flight home. Pack light, since you carry your own bag onto the ferry. Bring a layer. The deck is windy even in summer.
